JULY '08

Steel prices have again taken a large jump. Unfortunately this is the third increase this year. Again, we struggle to keep our prices as reasonable as possible, but we are forced to follow the market. Rest assured our increases will be a small as we possibly can make them.

On a a better note, all of our steel pads will now feature the new "angled leg" design. These new legs will get the base of the pad between 12 and 15 inches off the ground for added clearance on rough terrain, and to get the top of the mast higher so the flier doesn't need to kneel down or use the mast extension to attach the igniter leads. Check them out on the Fade to Black Rocket Works pad pages.

JUNE '08

FTB introduces the Concept pad. Based on the Thunder pad, the Concept has an all new adjustment mechanism that doesn't require that a pin be pulled to lower the rod or rail. A quick twist on a T-bolt releases or retains the mast, making it so easy that just one person can load a rocket. Check it out on the "Concept" page of our site.

APRIL '08

Unfortunately, due to rapidly increasing steel prices, FTB is forced to implement another price increase. While we are struggling to keep our products affordable, the world market is driving metal prices to record highs. FTB uses only steel made in America, and the supplier we use has the best prices in the area market. Hopefully, we'll be able to keep our prices stable for the remainder of the year. Check out the products page for the current pricing.

MARCH '08

FTB is proud to announce the release of a new line of low and mid power pads. The TRI-PAD series are designed for rockets up to 3 lbs. They will accept rods up to 3/8" depending on the model. Made of rugged PVC with all steel windage mechanisms and blast deflectors, these low cost pads will provide years of fun for the discerning flier.

FTB has also added a shopping cart to the website to facilitate purchasing our products.

JAN. '08 - Price increase

Due to increasing material costs, starting with the next production run, prices for all Thunder and Ligntning pads will increase by $10 per pad.

DEC. '07 - Prototype launch controllers being tested.

FTB is testing new launch controller systems for possible sale in '08. These systems will be for mid and high power rockets, as well as a monotube hybrid capable system. All systems are relay driven, set up for 12V power and include heavy duty weatherproof connectors, controller and pad safety, audible alarm and storage box. Prices are predicted to range from $225 to $295. Prices are subject to change.

DEC. '07 - Powder coating now available

We now have the ability to have the pads powder coated. Cost will be $40 per pad.

DEC. '07 - New mods to the pads make them more user friendly and more versatile

By moving the rail retention screws to the corner on the mast, we've made the receiver "self centering" This is to ensure the rail or rod is parallel to the mast. We've also added a second pivot point on the mast/receiver assembly to allow the user to pick between the 30 degree or flat horizontal loading position. We've found that with longer rails, or with the mast extension, the 30 degree position keeps the end of the rail or rod too high to reach easily. By adding an optional pivot location, the receiver will lay flat and make loading easier under these conditions.

NOV. '07 - FTB announces the new Lightning Pad

Fold-up storage with lightning fast setup and tear down.  The Lightning pads will be produced on an "as ordered" basis. See product page for details and prices.
